About the co-founder

Jakub co-founded Kuźnia Olimpijska, teaches individual and group lessons, and is responsible for the programme and organisation of many events.

He is a computer science PhD student at the University of Warsaw and holds master's degrees in mathematics and computer science from the same university. During his studies, he worked on automata theory; his doctoral research now focuses on parameterised algorithms. He works at DuckType and is involved with the Duckling Foundation. He also led a team creating problems for DeepMind to benchmark Gemini models.

He graduated from Stanisław Staszic Lower Secondary School No. 13 and Stanisław Staszic High School No. 14 in Warsaw. Today, he organises and teaches maths clubs at Staszic.

In each year from 2024 to 2026, he was one of the Polish team leaders at the Czech–Polish–Slovak Junior Mathematical Competition (CPSJ). In 2024 and 2026, he also held this role at the International Mathematics Summer Camp (IMSC), an international training camp ahead of the International Mathematical Olympiad.

In his free time, he enjoys basketball, which he has played regularly since starting lower secondary school. He also used to play chess, earning Polish category II and a FIDE rating of around 1700. He stopped playing chess regularly around the start of lower secondary school and has played only occasionally since then.
